PMC Lighting introduces our December Featured Agent, JJM Associates.

Located in Virginia, JJM Associates and PMC Lighting have enjoyed a great relationship as they’ve delivered lighting solutions in our industry.

“It is a pleasure to represent PMC Lighting,” said Jim Mitchell, owner and president of JJM Associates. “We deal with other manufacturers of course, but PMC differs from many with their broad product selection, quick response time, and willingness to react to competitive situations. Along with their ability to modify standard product, their engineering capabilities and outstanding leadership from Larry Crystal are evident in every part of the business.”

Larry, PMC Lighting’s President agrees with Jim’s assessment. “Working with Jim’s team is as easy as it gets, and PMC is proud to have grown our business together since 2009.”

NASA Langley Measurement Systems Lab

One of the projects that PMC Lighting and JJM Associates have worked on together is the NASA Langley Measurement Systems Lab. Located in Hampton, VA, the facility is used for the research and development of new measurement concepts, technologies, and systems.

PMC is proud that NASA’s project used a half mile of our Peri-Mittari E3095 LED lighting in their new facility.

Jim continues, “We have used PMC products on many projects, but NASA Measurement Systems Lab was a complicated job and emphasis on the performance needed to successfully accomplish such a high profile, security intensive project.  PMC performed flawlessly from start to finish.”

PMC Lighting is looking forward to continuing our great relationship with JJM Associates and to a profitable and fruitful future!

October 2019 Featured Agent: Quantum Lighting Group

PMC Lighting introduces our October Featured Agent, Quantum Lighting Group.

“When Utah’s Quantum Lighting Group and PMC Lighting joined forces back in 2016, they had an immediate and urgent opportunity for our Build 2 Spec capabilities,” explains our Western Regional Sales Director, Jim Smith. ” This ultimately led to the delivery of a unique product solution that met the performance, aesthetic, and lead time requirements of the project team. Since that time, Quantum has continued to pair PMC Lighting with numerous challenging projects requiring a ‘think outside the box’ mentality and the development of creative and unique fixture alternatives.”

“It was a new relationship for Quantum Lighting, but their flexibility, product offering, and eagerness are the reasons we chose to go with PMC for the Vivint Smart Home Arena project, which is the home of Utah Jazz Basketball,” shares Quantum Lighting Principal Trish Eaton.” PMC was incredibly responsive and helped coordinate a very fast-track, complicated project working closely with us and the engineer to accomplish what the engineer and owner wanted.  Our timeline on this project was an extremely quick 5 month $125 Million renovation with $3 million of that for lighting. The project couldn’t start until playoffs were over and had to be done for a high profile Tim McGraw and Faith Hill concert.”

“We needed a linear pendant that could do RGB up and white light down.  PMC went above and beyond to come up with a solution as well as sent a tech to the site during the install and programming phase to make sure the fixtures were programmed correctly,” continues Trish. “We also needed a wet location linear recessed for the exterior entrances which PMC delivered.”

PMC Lighting is proud of their relationship with Quantum Lighting. “They are always bringing us interesting opportunities for products that play to our engineering and manufacturing strengths which complement their other lines,” Jim Smith elaborates. “Quantum Lighting Group has a great understanding of our capabilities and how to best utilize PMC Lighting to help secure a specification and project order. Ours is a great and mutually beneficial partnership.”

And we look forward to many more projects with Quantum Lighting!

PMC Lighting introduces our September Featured Agent, Illuminations, Inc.

This month, PMC Lighting has chosen Illuminations, Inc. as our Agent of the Month. Illuminations offers comprehensive sales, application, and technical support, providing exceptional service from project inception to completion and serves Eastern PA, Southern NJ, and Delaware.

“Illuminations has been a consistent supporter of PMC for many years. They have a talented and knowledgeable specification sales team and a strong inside sales team, covering a large territory,” explains PMC Lighting’s Cassie Carter. “Philadelphia is one of the most competitive markets in the country, Illuminations works hard to beat the competition.”

“PMC Lighting is best known to our team as a company we can rely on for quick responses and willingness to modify products to make a fixture work within the requirements of specific projects,” shares Illuminations Inside Sales Manager Karen Garner. “Craig Nevers, who is their chief engineer, is incredibly thorough in his responses fielding technical questions and modification requests. He’s one of the best in the industry.  Larry Crystal, President of PMC Lighting, takes a personal interest in projects. Larry and our Prinicpal, George Lyngarkos have become personal friends over the last 20 years. Both companies have evolved from small operations looking to get a foot in the door, to selective companies, respected in the specification community.”

Larry (L) and George: Friends and Associates

PMC Lighting and Illuminations, Inc. worked on this project at Giant Foods in Hanover, PA.

“PMC has recently been instrumental in securing several pieces of business by working closely with us and the design team to meet their needs,” continues Karen. “Lehigh Valley Elementary School is a prime example. PMC modified the S82 series for a wider center opening to accommodate the specifiers vision of what he wanted in the space. Without their flexibility and quick response, we would have lost that opportunity. They were also key in helping us secure the Mount Laurel School District and Harrah’s Atlantic City – Gordon Ramsay Steak House projects.”

S82 Series                             SCX-2196

“Most recently, I worked closely with Rob Hammerschlag on a Healthcare project in which PMC integrated our PŪR-LED™ disinfection technology into a custom sealed troffer,” Cassie adds. “Rob was diligent and integral in getting PMC this opportunity and continues to be a well of support for our product line. In fact, working with Rob Hammerschlag has allowed us to add a new product to our line, the recently released SCX-2196.”

Karen continues her praise of PMC. “PMC has a lot of flexibility for corporate and commercial spaces to give designers their own signature statement pieces. The ArcX takes simple linear products one step further where you can curve it either horizontal or vertically to really stretch the imagination. They also have capabilities for RGBW and color tuning. TONS OF POSSIBILITIES! We look forward to continuing to grow together!”

Thank you, Karen! It’s been our pleasure to work with you, as well. Here’s to the future!

Mark Horton also adds, “This project with PMC Lighting began with a description of a 2×2 drop basket luminaire – PMC Lighting delivered. As a result of the PMC Lighting’s efforts on the initial project, Kaleb Lunt (TLS Lubbock) worked with the specifier to write a specification around the new Nelio 9062 series on the Texas Tech HSC Dental Learning Center finish out portion.”

The Texas Lighting Solutions/PMC Lighting relationship continues to flourish as the demand for specific unique architectural and technological LED lighting solutions is ever growing. We look forward to more projects with this talented team.

July 2019 PMC Lighting Featured Agent of the Month: Ferrini-Konarski Associates

By | News, Uncategorized | No Comments

PMC Lighting introduces our July Featured Agent, Ferrini-Konarski Associates.

This month, PMC Lighting’s Eastern Regional Sales Manager, Cassie Carter, highlights our agent in Upstate New York, Ferrini-Konarski Associates. Founded in 1974, Ferrini-Konarski Associates, Inc., is an Upstate New York agency representing the finest manufacturers of commercial, industrial, and residential lighting fixtures, controls, and associated products. With four full-service offices across the state, they offer support for lighting projects from design to completion.

PMC Lighting has enjoyed a great relationship with Ferrini-Konarksi and David Konarski, Principal, Outside Sales, echoed that sentiment. “Ferrini-Konarski Associates (FKA) is proud to represent PMC Lighting in Upstate New York. We’ve had several recent project opportunities in higher education that have showcased PMC’s custom capabilities.”

Hudson Valley Community College Project

David continued, “Hudson Valley Community College tasked T&J Electrical Associates and FKA with presenting ideas for upgrading their Campus Center with efficient LED fixtures. We worked with Larry Crystal and Craig Nevers to deliver lighting solutions that would blend with the simplistic architectural ambiance of the space while attaining comfortable, uniform lighting.”

PMC is currently in the process of shipping the University at Albany, State University of New York, the ‘Palm Trees’ project. “PMC’s involvement originated from a chance meeting and introduction in a cigar bar in Philadelphia during LightFair 2017. I was hosting a group that included an electrical engineer from Guth-DeConzo consulting. I introduced this gentleman to Larry Crystal who just happened to be at the same place. The next day we had a rough scope and drawings in our hands,” explained David.

(L) PMC Lighting’s Chief Engineer Craig Nevers visits SUNY Albany (R) A view of the ‘Palm Trees Project’

“SUNY Albany has 1,100 of these ‘palm trees’ throughout the campus.  Each palm tree has 16 ‘fronds’ that were to be upgraded from fluorescent to LED.  The challenge was that the fronds are angled on one end and the ceilings are concave,” David stated. “After several site visits with Larry and Craig Nevers, PMC presented a true custom solution that was mocked-up against three other potential bidders.  Ours was not the least expensive fixture but we were able to win the award due to the labor savings that PMC’s unique design offered.”

In conclusion, David said, “Working with PMC over the years has been a true pleasure. They deliver big-time quality with a ‘whatever-it-takes’ attitude. FKA is honored to be PMC’s July Agent of the Month!”

Thank you, David, and all of the great folks at Ferrini-Konarksi Associates! We are happy to feature you and look forward to more projects in the future.

June 2019 PMC Lighting Featured Agent of the Month: Bell & McCoy

By | News, Uncategorized | No Comments

PMC Lighting introduces our June Featured Agent Bell & McCoy Lighting and Controls-Houston.

This month, PMC Lighting’s Western Regional Sales Manager, Jim Smith, highlights our agent in the South Texas market, Bell & McCoy Lighting and Controls-Houston. Formed in 2006, Bell & McCoy focuses on the relationships with their manufacturers and customers. Our partnership extends beyond our work in the Houston TX area and includes Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana territories.

“Over the past decade, PMC Lighting has been a great partner to Bell & McCoy. Larry Crystal, President and CEO of PMC Lighting and Jim Smith, our RSM, have been extremely helpful in assisting us with very high-profile projects,” shares Jim Mohr, General Manager of Bell & McCoy.

One of these projects was the Memorial Hermann Medical Center.

Memorial Hermann Medical Center, Houston

“As plans came together for the expansion of the Memorial Hermann Medical Center in Houston TX, Bell & McCoy was challenged with developing a product solution for a wall mounted linear lighting application,” Jim Smith explains. “Jim Mahalick, Specification Sales representative with Bell & McCoy, approached us with this unique product requirement. Using our Build 2 Spec mindset, a custom solution was developed that would satisfy both the performance and aesthetic requirements of his customers, WHR Architects and EYP Architecture and Engineering.”

Mohr explains this project further. “The hospital design team had very specific requirements for a wall mounted fixture to light all of the hospital corridors. They desired an aesthetically pleasing, high-performance fixture that would be easy on the eyes for patients as they were transported around the hospital.  We turned to PMC to help us design the fixture, provide a sample, and meet the budget parameters. Ultimately, we secured the order and shipped over 8,000 feet of custom, wall-mounted product.”

Smith continues, “Jim Mohr and the installing contractor, Fisk Electric, had specific mounting and wiring requirements that needed to be engineered into the product solution. From fixture design to manufacturing and installation, PMC Lighting’s engineering team was able to meet all the necessary requirements with a Build 2 Spec lighting solution that led to this successful project application.”

E9010 in the Texas A&M Engineering Building.

“Another high-profile project recently completed was the new Engineering Complex at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX.” Jim Mohr explains. “When working with the architect on a fixture option to illuminate the classrooms, we looked to PMC Lighting and their suspended fixture families. The architect ultimately selected the ‘E9010’ Alumiini series and everyone involved is extremely happy with the end result.”

Our work with Bell & McCoy on both the Texas A&M and the Memorial Hermann projects ultimately progressed so that we were able to base our new Alumiini product, the E5068 WALL, on the pre-production work that we did for these projects. Bell & McCoy certainly gets some credit for the design of the wall-mounted portion of the new Aluminii series.

Our new Alumiini product, the E5068 WALL, based on the pre-production work that we did for Bell & McCoy.

Mohr sums up the relationship with PMC Lighting. “At the end of the day, PMC manufactures high-quality products and is a pleasure working with on a day-to-day basis. It’s great knowing that Larry is just a phone call away if we need his help and we consider them a great partner. We look forward to working with them for years to come and greatly appreciate being selected as their June ‘Featured Agent of the Month’.

We agree that our relationship with Bell & McCoy is one we continue to look forward to and cultivate in the coming years.

May 2019 PMC Lighting Featured Agent of the Month: Alliance Lighting

By | News | No Comments

PMC Lighting introduces our May Featured Agent, Alliance Lighting.

Cassie Carter, Eastern Regional Sales Manager, selected Alliance Lighting to be our May Featured Agent. “Located in Columbia, MD, Alliance Lighting focuses on Lighting for Designed Spaces. This focus has been a natural fit with PMC Lighting’s Build2Spec focus,” Cassie says. “Working with Alliance has been about more than just the products; it is also about our relationship. Alliance is a dream agency in that their team is savvy, enthusiastic, friendly, and productive.  Their inside sales team is just as strong as the specification sales team.  They are honest about what they need for their market and always looking for new ways to use PMC products.  They have truly diversified their use of PMC product offerings. Their projects range from troffers to linear to curvilinear.  They are loyal, fun, and dedicated.  I look forward to many more years of working with this fine group!”

Mike Devlin, President of Design Sales, says, “Alliance Lighting has a long, extensive history with PMC Lighting dating back 15-plus years. We have always used them as our ‘go-to’ line for standard lighting products, such as 2x2s and downlights.”

Mike specifically states that over the past few years, the products have graduated into something that can be used in every space and at every location within that space. “My designers are no longer limited to office areas but we are now in the Lobbies of Class A buildings in Washington, DC. Visually interesting products are now part of our ‘go-to’ line. Clean lines of light, full integration, and cutting edge technologies have allowed my lighting designers to take notice. No longer is it just architects or engineers reviewing our PMC Submittal drawings.” Just a few of our projects with Alliance are shown in this email.

Mike mentions that over the years, Allliance’s primary contact had been our CEO/President Larry Crystal. “Larry is a great guy who will always get you the answer right away. Replacing him in our market was not an easy task. He spoiled us pretty good! Then, Cassie Carter started with us in 2016 and we couldn’t be happier. She stepped right in and gets my team the answers we need. Based on the years of our strong relationship with those folks, I personally consider them friends.”

Staying on the cutting edge and delivering products as promised is important in our industry. Mike understands this. “Our market, like every other one, is extremely busy. Products need to be on the jobsite yesterday. PMC makes it happen every time. We know we can call Cassie or Larry directly, and they will do everything in their power to make the design team happy. And my designers know this and appreciate the effort shown. We look forward to the future innovations coming our way and so do my designers.”

Quest Global (Courtesy: SKB Architects)

Respect and loyalty go hand-in-hand, and in the relationship between Alliance Lighting and PMC, this concept is no exception. Mike says, “I am constantly approached by factories to rep their lines, some very similar lines from even larger companies. However, I found the relationship will carry you further than the products alone. We value the rapport we have built, and feel valued in return.”
PMC Lighting is also proud of our work and our relationship with Alliance Lighting. We look forward to a continued, long association!

April 2019 PMC Lighting Featured Agent of the Month: CAL Lighting

By | News | No Comments

PMC Lighting introduces our April Featured Agent, CAL Lighting.

Jim Smith, Western Regional Sales Manager, selected CAL Lighting to be our April Featured Agent. Jim credits the CAL Lighting team for understanding PMC’s unique Build2Spec product design capabilities and identifying the opportunity as a perfect fit for both parties. “CAL Lighting has done a tremendous job over the years of selectively utilizing PMC Lighting’s design, engineering, and manufacturing strengths to bring quality lighting solutions to customers’ difficult project applications. The extended longevity of our partnership has helped develop a strong level of trust, understanding and a knowledge of how and where to position our product solutions within a given opportunity.”

When the renovation of Moscone Center in San Francisco CA was being planned, electrical contractor Rosendin Electric was looking for a unique downlighting solution that would increase the efficiency of the installation process and reduce the amount of labor required to connect the hundreds of LED fixtures involved in this project. Rosendin sought out the help of CAL Lighting, the premier specification lighting agency in Northern and Central California and Northern Nevada. With offices in San Ramon, Sacramento, Fresno, Ventura CA and Reno NV, CAL Lighting was well positioned to assist with the development of this challenging solution and turned to us for engineering and product development support. Working with Mike Butala, Ralph Firsching, and Patrick Spicer from CAL, PMC Lighting, led by Chief Engineer Craig Nevers, was able to design a Build2Spec product solution that met all the structural requirements of Rosendin Electric. This also provided the necessary performance and aesthetic deliverables for the remodeled Moscone Center environment.

“The Moscone Center project was difficult and had demanding specifications. We found the engineering department at PMC to be second to none,” says CAL Lighting President, Mike Butala. “This was the biggest job that CAL Lighting has done and also the biggest job that PMC Lighting has done.”

Patrick Spicer, Distribution & Project Sales for the Bay Area, came on board for the project at the tail end when Ralph Firsching retired. “Ralph did most of the heavy lifting on this project and was over the moon happy with the real-world application,” Patrick explains. “PMC fixtures follow up the escalators four to five stories, forty to fifty feet, and this area was a challenge to light!”

PMC Lighting is proud of our work on this project and our relationship with CAL Lighting. Because of the great communication and dedication of Mike, Ralph, and Patrick, the Moscone project was a success. We hope that Ralph is enjoying his well-deserved retirement after 20 years of service with CAL Lighting.

Ralph and one of his customers celebrate at Ralph’s retirement party.

March 2019 PMC Lighting Featured Agent of the Month: Ardd + Winter

By | News | No Comments

PMC Lighting is proud to announce our March Featured Agent of the Month: Ardd + Winter, Jacksonville, FL office.

Cassie Carter, Eastern Regional Sales Manager, is pleased to announce that Ardd + Winter (Jacksonville office) has been chosen as our March Featured Agent. “I chose Ardd + Winter Jacksonville, Florida because they are incredibly supportive of the entire PMC line, from Linear, using the Nelio S34 in the Xenia Ballroom Project, to our ArcX collection in the Central Florida Credit Union.”
Ardd + Winter just celebrated their fiftieth business anniversary in 2018 and is known for being one of the most respected, stable, and sustainable rep firms in the lighting industry.

In the picture above, our collaboration on the Community First Credit Union, based in Florida, is shown. PMC Lighting delivered custom ArcX fixtures with painted custom colors that fit the bank’s brand and desired style. As part of the bank’s redesign and upgrade, our luminaires light the signature lobby, which features a relaxation zone and a walk-up ATM.

Cassie continues in her praise of Ardd &Winter. “They build beautiful projects around our offerings. Bob Olive and Tim Sohl are a pleasure to work with, they communicate well, they are enthusiastic and very self-sufficient as they know exactly who to contact within each department at the PMC Factory to get what they need for any given project. I look forward to seeing what new opportunities they bring in 2019!”

We are also looking forward to more projects with Ardd & Winter!

February 2019 PMC Lighting Featured Agent of the Month: Schroeder Sales

By | News | No Comments

PMC Lighting is proud to announce our February Featured Agent of the Month, New Mexico’s Premier Sales Agency, Schroeder Sales located in Albuquerque.

Jim Smith, Western Regional Sales Manager, is pleased to announce that Schroeder Sales has been chosen as our February Featured Agent. “I chose Schroeder Sales as our featured agent because they epitomize the PMC Lighting sales agency model. They recognize PMC Lighting’s diverse manufacturing and product design proficiencies and utilize these capabilities to provide unique Build2Spec solutions that not only satisfy the needs of their customers but also provides a tool that helps maintain the integrity of the agency’s overall project specification.”

David Schroeder is a Principal at Schroeder Sales and works in Sales and Quotes. John Tomlinson, also in Sales, was our primary contact on the project where PMC Lighting’s products were used: The Willie Ortiz State Office Building. “The project was ideal for a 2000K-6000K-2000K CCT work day scene transition.  The architect, Dan Caruso from RMKM architecture, said that the repurposed basement of the Willie Ortiz building would have no windows and to emulate the passing of time via color tuning would be a great design element. A hybrid solution of 4000K task lighting above centrally located work stations and perimeter cove lighting simulating clerestory skylights gave the effect of access to the outdoors. ”

John continues, “The color tuning cove lighting was not cataloged at the time of specification. The technology and fixture profile were coordinated quickly with PMC.”

The ease of working with PMC Lighting is also a highlight that both John and David mention. “It was very easy to work out the details because PMC encouraged access to their engineer who was patient as we worked through the details of the product requirements. Confirmation via clear emails and follow-up drawings made the process very easy. Product deviations and modifications can take a lot of time; this did not.”

Jim Smith also echoes David’s sentiments about the ease of working with Schroeder. “Our partnership with Schroeder Sales continues to deliver profitable results that differentiate them throughout the Albuquerque and greater New Mexico market as a true lighting solutions provider.”

We at PMC Lighting look forward to more projects to work on with the agents at Schroeder Sales!
